Getty Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023 for Emerging Scholars Check Out.

  Scholars from all countries are now welcome to apply for the Getty Foundation's predoctoral and postdoctoral fellowships for the year 2022. The Getty Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellowship applications must be submitted by October 3, 2022.

Young scholars are urged to apply for Getty Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships to complete work on initiatives related to the African American Art History Initiative, the Paul Revere Williams Research Project, or the annual research focus of the Getty Research Institute.

Recipients may work on research projects, complete their dissertations, or improve the content of their dissertations in order to prepare it for publication during their stay at the Getty Research Institute or Getty Villa. Fellows participate in the intellectual life of the Getty, use its collections, and attend a weekly lecture on a particular subject each week.

Eligibility for Getty Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellowships

• Scholars from various nations are encouraged to apply for Getty Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellowships.
• Pre- and Postdoctoral fellowships are ineligible for current Getty employees and their immediate families.
• Candidates for the Getty Predoctoral Fellowship must have reached candidacy by the application deadline, and they should plan to finish their dissertations during the fellowship. Successful candidates for Predoctoral Fellowships who get their degree after the application deadline but before the fellowship begins, or who obtain their doctorate while residing, automatically transition into Postdoctoral Fellows.
• Candidates for Postdoctoral Fellowships who earned their degrees prior to September 1, 2019, should submit an application forGetty Scholar Grant

Benefits of Getty Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellowships

• The duration of a Getty Predoctoral Fellowship is nine months, from late September to late June, and it pays $30,000.
• The duration of the Getty Postdoctoral Fellowships is nine months, from late September to late June, and they come with a $35,000 stipend.
• A workstation at the Getty Research Institute or the Getty Villa, a residence in the Getty Scholar Housing Complex, a travel stipend, and access to healthcare are all possible benefits of both fellowships. The terms and duration of grants are subject to change, and these conditions are valid as of June 2022. There may also be requirements for grantees' health and safety.

Guidelines for Getty Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellowship Applications

• The online Fellowship application form must be fully filled out and submitted by the deadline, along with a project proposal, a selected bibliography, a doctoral dissertation plan or abstract, a curriculum vitae, a writing sample, and a confirmation letter.
• This application also needs two letters of recommendation.
